Titre : Schwick, Mathieu, Holzer, Berclaz

Cie vou ples, no parles Francais or sprechen zie Deutch… My great-great-grandparents were Anton SCHWICK, b. 1838 (son of Moritz and Catharina HOLZER) and Maria Josepha MATHIEU, b. 1836 (daughter of Johann and Catharina BERCLAZ).

The families lived in Bellwald, Sierre and Albinen in Canton Valais.

Anton and Maria came to America in 1881 to join their daughters who had already immigrated.

Any help on these families would be very much appreciated! Merci/Danke

Hello I am not sure if this will help you but I was recently in Switzerland trying to trace some of my roots. I noticed the name Berclaz appeared on many graves in a church yard in Venthone (Sierre/ Siders) and I think the name Holzer is from Brig/Glis (the name appears on many graves in the church yard in Glis dorf). Hope this helps.

I noticed the name Berclaz appeared on many graves in a church yard in Venthone (Sierre/ Siders) and I think the name Holzer is from Brig/Glis (the name appears on many graves in the church yard in Glis dorf).
