Do you have more informations, please? I have many Rausis in my listing (Orsières), but I didn’t find a marriage between John and Pauline… Do you know how old was Henry, when he came in America? Was he alone?
Bye… |

Elisabeth;
Many thanks for writing back. Here is the information I have; my great-grandfather, Herman Rausis, was born in 1871, and his brother Henry in 1875 (or maybe 1873; two sources give different years). Herman came to the U.S. in 1888, Henry in 1895. They had two other siblings (I don’t know their names, gender, or what happened to them). Herman was the oldest of the four children. As for their parents, Pauline died in 1881 at the age of 35, and John died in 1893 at the age of 64. My source also mentions that they were farmers in Switzerland; when Herman and Henry came to the U.S. (in the state of Colorado), they were cattle ranchers. Both Herman and Henry were unmarried at the time my source was published (1906), but Herman later married Nora Arch; their oldest son, Herman John Rausis, was my grandfather. Again, many thanks for any help you can give me. Jeff Rausis |
